Mari
Poll was born in 1987 in Estonia. She is currently studying under Prof.
Radu Blidar at the Royal College of Music in London, where she holds a
Derek Butler London Trust Award. Having begun her studies with
Professors Tiiu Peäske and Ivi Tivik at Tallinn Music High School until
2004, Mari was awarded a place at Chetham's School of Music to study
with Prof. Jan Repko with whom she continued her studies at the Royal
College of Music until autumn 2010.
Mari has performed as a soloist and chamber
musician across Europe and America at venues such as the Wigmore Hall,
Cadogan Hall, St Martin in the Fields, Estonia Concert Hall and the
Bridgewater Hall, with orchestras such as Tallinn Chamber Orchestra,
Liverpool Mozart Orchestra and the Murso Symphony Orchestra.
A multiple prizewinner at international
competitions including 3rd Prize and special Robert Casadesus award in
Vibrarte International Violin Competition in France, 1st Prize in Derek
Butler London Prize, winner of the RCM Concerto Competition, 4 Special
Prizes in H.Eller International Violin Competition in Estonia, Special
Prize in L.Spohr International Violin Competition in Germany, 5th Prize
in Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition. She is also
recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the MBF
Postgraduate Performance Award, Stephen Bell Charitable Trust Award,
Martyn Musical Scholarship Award and ESFUSA Award..
Mari has appeared in festivals such as
Bowdoin International Summer Music Festival, Courchevel Music Festival,
New Virtuosi Mastercourse, Lausanne Duo Masterclass and she had
masterclasses with distinguished professors, including Pierre Amoyal,
Petru Munteanu, Gordon Back, Pamela Frank, Edward Grach, Dong-Suk Kang,
Bruno Canino, Mikhail Kopelman. Mari regularly performs with her
brother, pianist Mihkel Poll and also with pianist Jennifer Hughes.
